Spray Tanning vs Tanning Beds

Tanning Bed VS Spray Tan

Which type of tan is best for you? Do you need quick color for an upcoming event? Or a lasting all over glow? Read on to see the pros and cons of both spray tan and tanning beds.

When you walk into a tanning salon you usually have two options as to how to get your color; tanning beds or spray tan. They both have the great benefit of achieving a nice, bronze color, but which one is for you?

Tanning beds have been around since having bronze skin became popular, around the 1970’s. Today, tanning beds are an easy way to keep glowing skin year round! Let’s look at some pro’s and con’s to tanning beds:.

Tanning Beds Pros and Cons

Pros: Tanning beds can give you a natural looking glow or a full, dark tan depending on what you are looking for; all you need to do is adjust your time and frequency. Tanning beds are especially nice during the hot Arizona summer!

Cons: Unlike tanning in the sun, a tanning bed does cost money. There is also a chance of having to wait for a bed, especially the higher level beds.

Spray tans can be another great way to get color! You can be in and out of the salon fast with glowing, bronzed skin! Just like tanning beds, spray tans can also have its positives and negatives.

Spray Tanning Pros and Cons

Pros: Unlike tanning in a bed, spray tanning will give you almost instant color; most spray tans will give you color in 24 hours so it is great when you need to be tan fast! Most spray tan machines also offer a range of levels to give you the perfect shade of bronze.

Cons: The main disadvantage to spray tans is the color only lasts for around a week. It is also difficult to get spray tans during the summer as chlorine, salt, and sweat water can strip the color. If directions are not followed correctly, then you can end up with an uneven tan especially around fingers, wrists, elbows and knees.

Tanning is all based on personal preference! Some people only do one of the two, others alternate between both! To figure out what is best for you, try doing both and see which one you like best!
